Bop to the Top: A 100/10 Disney Throwback Dance Party
I genuinely don't think I've ever had this much fun shooting a show.
Bop to the Top was basically a giant Disney nostalgia party, except instead of being 10 years old, everyone was in their late 20s and early 30s and fully committed to reliving their childhood for the night.
It was so much fun seeing everyone react to all of these songs that were such a huge part of growing up. The second a recognizable song came on, the entire room would start singing and dancing. There were people dressed up as their favorite Disney characters, people in full costumes, and just generally a LOT of adults who were very excited to be listening to Disney music in public (me included).
I spent the entire night walking around taking photos, but I was also dancing around and singing along to basically every song. I genuinely forgot I was supposed to be working at multiple points because I was having so much fun. Usually I'm thinking about getting the shot, finding the right angle, making sure I'm not in anyone's way, etc., but this time I was also like... wait hold on I LOVE THIS SONG.
DJ Naajah was incredible and honestly could not have been a better host for the night. She was silly, energetic, and constantly keeping the crowd involved. She brought so many fans up on stage to dance, which made the whole thing feel even more like one giant party. There was absolutely no shortage of people willing to get up there and be dramatic and dance along to Disney music.
The costumes were also SO cute. Seeing everyone show up as their favorite Disney characters and fully commit to the bit was probably one of my favorite parts of the night. There was something really wholesome about watching a room full of adults get to be kids again for a few hours.
It was silly, nostalgic, chaotic, and genuinely just so much fun. I left with a camera roll full of photos, a very sore face from smiling, and a strong urge to rewatch every Disney Channel movie ever.
100/10. No notes. I would absolutely bop to the top again.
