The Spotlight Shines on Joji As He Delivers the Solaris Tour in Austin, TX

Joji's unique connection with his fans was on full display as the giant platform carried him above the Moody Center stage in Austin, TX on Monday.

If there's anything that fans who see Joji's live performance can agree on, it's that his shows are unmatched. Upon coming into the venue, fans are greeted with a giant platform hanging far above the stage, already setting expectations high for the show (literally).

The night started off with Corbin and Nate Sib warming up the crowd from atop the platform. I think it's always really interesting to see how the openers handle any stage props and I thought this platform was going to be a test for them for sure. However, both artists handled the higher than usual stage like pros, owning the front of the platform, successfully getting the fans dancing and singing ahead of Joji taking the stage.

After a collection of eclectic songs on the pre-show playlist (I'm looking at you, Crazy Frog), the house lights fell and phone lights were up. Fans began to roar as smoke filled the stage and Joji emerged from atop the large platform, his warm vocals ringing out with the opening lines of 'PIXELATED KISSES' to start the show. I was immediately taken aback with how beautiful Joji's vocals were. It's hard to find artists who sound so clear and strong through the arena speakers but Joji's voice was incredible.

As we moved through the setlist, the connection that Joji had with his fans was so apparent. Even without an arena level of emotion coming from the artist, his fans were holding on to every interaction, even freaking out when he shot them a look or made contact with the video they were taking. His reserved personality truly makes each interaction with fans more meaningful and unforgettable.

As expected, Joji's stage visuals were a sight to see. Each song was accompanied by a psychedelic-esc pattern playing on the screen, with Joji's signature color red shining onto the artist for much of the night. Alongside the screens, the tour featured a fun guest: a humanoid robot dancing alongside the artist for several of the songs. Prior to tour starting, Joji had posted a sneak peak of them bullying the robot behind the scenes so I was really interested to see how the robot was going to be used for the show. I was really happy to see it was for a slightly more wholesome reason.

By the end of the night, the crowd was not ready to go home. After the singer closed the show prior to the encore, fans erupted into deafening screams of "Joji! Joji! Joji!" before the house lights fell once again, and Joji joining back onstage to close the show with '1 AM FREESTYLE' and "Slow Dancing In The Dark". Every time I'm at the Moody Center, I'm in awe of how magical it is to see thousands of fans sharing the same experience. However, when the confetti cannons went off at the end of the show and confetti rained down on the arena, I was once again reminded of the magic of live music. Joji and his team did an incredible job of displaying this fact once again.
