You Should Probably Be Listening To Hey, Nothing
Hey, Nothing is genuinely one of the most interesting additions to the indie scene I’ve seen in a while. You need to have your eye on them, immediately.

The band brought their Hound World Tour to Austin, TX and absolutely blew everyone at Scoot Inn away! Despite the early show and the blazing Texas heat, the fans showed up and danced the night away alongside the band. The intimate venue provided the perfect space for the band to dance around, interact with fans, and pack the venue in the process.

The night started out with opener, The Man, The Myth, The Meatslab pouring his heart out for the audience. His set was simple, featuring him with his guitar in front of the mic stand. Still, fans were captivated by his performance, holding their partners close and swaying along to each song.

Then, Hey, Nothing came on to the stage to start off with “Hound”, the titular track from their newest album and definitely a fan favorite. When I first heard the album, I knew that the bridge repeating “Be a Lover, Be a Hound” over and over was going to be life changing live, but I couldn’t have imagined how incredible it actually felt to be in the crowd with everyone chanting. That solidified itself as one of my top 5 music experiences easily.
As the band played through songs from the album, as well as other fan favorites from their discography, the crowd never wavered. From start to finish, despite the intense heat, fans were singing along to every word the band sang. The energy from the crowd was unmatched.

One thing I really love about the Scoot Inn specifically is that there isn’t a whole lot of production elements. Because the stage is outdoors, there isn’t room for any backing screens and only a few colored lights are set up. I feel like this really challenges any artist that comes through to strip back to the basics and let their music and stage presence shine through and Hey, Nothing really blew me away with their stage presence despite the simple set up. They were truly rocking out as though we were piled into the garage of our childhood home, just playing for us in that moment. It felt like such a special moment for fans to experience.

Hey, Nothing is one of the best and most interesting bands, sonically, that I’ve heard in a while. Despite their songs not having intense production behind them, they know exactly what works to pull their fans in and keep them interested from start to finish of each album. This will be one of those bands that you’d wish you’d hopped in the queue for sooner, so check them out today!
