I've been a firm believer that we should bring back appreciation for albums played front to back, so when I heard that Boys Like Girls were playing two of their greatest albums front to back on the Soundtrack of Your Life Tour, I knew I had to be in attendance. I was not prepared for how many emotions I felt during this show and how much nostalgia that hearing these albums live brought back for me.

The first opener, Arrows in Action, was the perfect start to the night to get the crowd excited. Their energy was explosive, prompting fans to get up and dance, rocking out alongside the band. They even placed a new song, "Twice" generated excitement amongst the fans; they were singing the lyrics despite the song having only been out for two days.

Next on the roster was I Don't Know How But They Found Me (stylized as IDKHow). They opened with popular songs such as "Choke", "Nobody Likes the Opening Band" (featuring a brief appearance from Arrows in Action in the photo pit), and "Do It All the Time". Their set ignited the crowd. By the end, everyone in the room was dancing. Dallon Weeks (frontman) is one of the most entertaining and expressive singers I've seen in a really long time. Truly a unforgettable performance that you shouldn't miss out on if you've never seen them live.

Boys Like Girls entered the stage, spotlighted only by numerous old televisions displaying relevant cultural moments and as the chords of "Heart Heart Heartbreak" from their album Love Drunk rang out, the fans were alive with instant nostalgia.
They played off the concept of nostalgia for the entire show, telling stories about the creation of certain songs on the album. Before "Thunder", they took a moment to honor the millennials in the audience, discussing coming home and dialing up your computer to open AOL messenger, just to see if that one username was online. Watching from the balcony above, I watched every person in the room feel that experience in their bones. He talked about how he ended up losing that girl to another person who told her that she was the soundtrack of his summer. He got the girl but they got one of the most inconic lyrics of the 2000s.

It was so obvious how impactful this band was to those growing up in the 2000s. Looking around the venue, even workers who generally maintain professional personas and were composed for most of the show, took a break to let loose and jam out to the last few songs of the setlist. They summed this up by expressing their love for the audience and their appreciation for being here for the last two decades. "To whatever extent we were a piece of the soundtrack of your lives, thank you". You can catch the rest of their tour dates here. Review our full gallery below.
