Khalid Brought the Heat to Austin on His 'It's Always Summer Somewhere' Tour

I have to start this show recap with the thought that has been bouncing around in my head since last night: Khalid's show was one of the most genuine expressions of love for his craft and his fans that I've seen in a really long time, especially for such a big artist.

Khalid brought his 2026 'It's Always Summer Somewhere' Tour to Austin, TX last night and we were blown away at how incredible this show was. The setlist was frightening going into the show, with 36 songs we were expecting to be exhausted by the end. However, that was the fastest I've seen a setlist go because we were having so much fun. Everyone around us was dancing, singing, and having a blast, despite the intense Texas heat that left everybody sweaty. I need to touch on his dancers first because they were INCREDIBLE. Ivy, Allie, and Syera deserve so much love!!

Often as artists grow, they'll outgrow their older albums and fans won't get to hear the deep cuts live if they joined after that era. However, Khalid showed his love for American Teen, his first album that released in 2017, even stating that he wanted to specifically play the deep cuts before playing his favorite from the album 'Cold Blooded'.

One thing that really shined through the entire show was Khalid's love for his fans. With every interaction, you could really tell that they were the reason that he was making music and performing. He would often interact with fans while singing, holding up hearts, waving at them, pointing to them and singing to them, genuinely making each fan in the audience feel his love.

During an interlude between songs, he brought a fan onstage and sat down to talk with her, asking her what his music means to her. (She said that his music got her through the last 10 years of her life, it's fine, I definitely sobbed in the middle of the pit.) While she was talking, he was so invested in her and what she was saying and it was such a beautiful, memorable moment that I'm sure she will remember forever. He kept her onstage while singing 'Yes, no, maybe' and even dedicated the song to her.

Finally, it was so beautiful to see the crowd interact with him during his heart to heart speech. The crowd (!!! also specifically my gays, of course) showed out for him, and screamed so loud when Khalid had an emotional moment, stating "Thanks for receiving me for who I really am, Happy Pride!". It was a flood of rainbow fans for the rest of the show (and not just because it was like 100 degrees, thanks Texas).
