From the United Kingdom to Hard Rock Live Orlando, Ella Mai’s “Do You Still Love Me?” Tour

On Aug. 10, British R&B artist Ella Mai graced the stage of Hard Rock Live Orlando on her “Do You Still Love Me?” tour with supporting acts from up-and-coming R&B performers, Girlfriend and Ama.

Mississippi native, Girlfriend, opened the night with her undeniable confidence and portrayal of what it really means to be a southerner.“Wow, this girl is so cool!”, was my main thought of her throughout her performance, especially during her cover of Jermain Reese Jr.’s “Can’t Explain It”, which featured a lovely sample of “So Into You” by Tamia that sent not only the audience but also myself into a nostalgic feel of that true R&B sound.

Ama, an R&B artist from North London, came in next with her electrifying and commanding stage presence. Her performance of her song “Holding Back” had the audience moving and her rich vocals transcended across the room during a special a capella rendition of some of her other tracks. She gave light choreography, which was a perfect balance with  her soft, sultry sound. To close out her performance, she ended with “Aura”, a song featuring Bryson Tiller.

“WOW” is definitely the word to describe Ella Mai’s absolutely phenomenal performance. To see generations of R&B fans show up and show out to experience Ella Mai – the girl who changed the R&B game with tracks like, “She Don’t”, “Boo’d Up”, and “Trip”– was genuinely an unbelievable sight and once those curtains opened, the entire venue made  themselves known.

The British swag within Mai’s stage presence is something you’d never be able to take away from her; She emulates this soothing and chic aura that is absolutely intrinsic. On top of that,the band and background vocalists gave it their all; Everything felt so cohesive, especially the vocal arrangements.I’ve attended many concerts, but I have got to say that the set design for the “Do You Still Love Me?” tour is one of my favorites. 

Overall, Ella Mai’s performance was such a beautiful and full circle moment for me and I was so connected throughout the entire  show. This show was definitely RNB greatness!
