Six Foot Blonde Returns To Hi-Fi Annex For Headline Show In Indianapolis, IN

If I had to choose one way to describe the feeling of live music, it would be ‘infectious energy’, and that is exactly what Six Foot Blonde created in Indianapolis, IN, on Friday, Aug.28.

From the moment they took the stage at the Hi-Fi Annex, it felt like the crowd and the band became one. They didn't just perform at the crowd; they brought everyone into their energy and made the audience feel like part of the show.

Based out of Bloomington, IN, Six Foot Blonde is such a breath of fresh air to come out of the Midwest. Their mix of alternative rock and indie pop gives them a sound that feels completely their own. It is hard not to dance along when watching them perform, especially because you can tell how much they genuinely love their own music. There is something really special about watching a band that is clearly having just as much fun being on stage as everyone else is having watching them.

Julia, the band’s leading lady and resident 6-foot blonde, announced the band’s sophomore album, Hummingbird on Sept.25, and shared the inspiration behind its name. She shared how special she finds it that people will take the time to put out sugar water to give a hummingbird a place to stop.

Live music can create a similar kind of connection: You can walk into a venue carrying everything that has been going on in your life and then for a few hours, you forget about it and are present in the moment, surrounded by music, other people and a feeling that is hard to recreate anywhere else.

Maybe that’s part of why we seek out live music in the first place: sometimes we need something to make us stop, look around and appreciate where we are, and I think that is what Six Foot Blonde does so well. They create a space where you can let go for a little while, dance, sing, feel something and just enjoy being there. You leave their shows feeling like you got to know a little piece of who they are, and I think that is something really special. Six Foot Blonde is unapologetically themselves, and watching them come to life on stage is something I will not forget.
